FLAG FOOTBALL TEAM GOES 3-3 FOR SEASON

Avon's 1st and 2nd grade flag football had an enjoyable season competing in Yankton on Monday and Tuesday nights. They finished with a record of 3-3, which is great for how young they are! Looking forward to watching them improve each year!

OUTDOOR CLASSROOM 2024 FOR AVON AND BON HOMME STUDENTS

What really happens in the soil when it is tilled or overgrazed? Jennifer Fischer demonstrated to the students of Avon and Bon Homme as well as neighbors and friends the power of symbiotic relationships and the consequences in the amazing life underground.

Sweet Clover 4-H Club

The Sweet Clover 4-H club met on October 6, at 6 p.m. The Brandt family hosted. President Carmindy called the meeting to order. Flag Pledges were led by Lucy and Josie Schloss. Roll call topic was "What did you do today?" and 11 members were present. The secretary's report was given by Whitley Wolf.

10 Years Ago – 2014 The Avon area was seeing some of the best crops in years with bean and corn piles building up. The annual Williams Pheasant Hunt was a success bagging 30 pheasants opening weekend.

PINK SHIRT DONATION PRESENTED

The Post Prom Committee and Avon/Dante Pink Ladies presented a check to Rick and Mary Hurd during Friday's football game from proceeds raised from pink shirt sales and the Avon/Dante Pink Ladies who made a matching donation to the cause.

AVERY SCHACHT, A WILDFIRE FIREFIGHTER

Avery Schacht is a volunteer fire fighter for the Lake Andes Fire Department and has been since 2021. She joined the department as soon as she turned 18 years old.

LIBRARY NEWS

Did you know that the library will be attending the Lake Andes Trunk or Treat on October 26th at the parking lot of Andes Central Schools. The library has many new books that will be part of the “treats,' and of course something sweet.

WAGNER COMMUNITY FOUNDATION AWARDS GRANTS TO COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS

The Wagner Community Foundation was able to fulfill three grants this year totaling $52,000. The three grant recipients were the Charles Mix County Historical Society Museum, the Boys & Girls Club of the Missouri River Area, and the Wagner Pool Fundraising Committee.
