Colonel Robert Monfore better known as “The Colonel’s” military service spanned through three wars WWII, Korea and Vietnam. The Colonel enlisted in the Army 12 days before his 18th birthday on September 26, 1946. The Korean War began on June 25,1950 and ended on July 27, 1953.

Max and Denise Leischner announced the birth of their son, Easton Carter. There was a picture in the paper with Elmer and Burnice Tolsma standing in front of one of their corn fields with corn at least two feet taller than he and his wife.
Long Term Services and Supports (LTSS), a division of the South Dakota Department of Human Services, is awarding $2 million in technology equipment grants to 73 long-term care providers across South Dakota.
The Lake Andes Public Library is a bright and colorful place far from the days of an old, mildewy, musty building full of just books. These days, the Lake Andes Public Library is a hub of activity, constantly full of kids enjoying all that the library has to offer.

Fort to Field 50 Paddle Battle was held. More than 100 racers took the challenge to either canoe or kayak the 50 mile stretch of river.
This week July 22-26 concludes the formal summer programming program at the library. We had a wonderful number of children taking part and had a lot of great learning experiences and more importantly we have increased the number of pages read from last year.
