McKenna Marie Kocmich was born on March 10, 2006. Her familyincludesherdadDon,her mom,Dawn,andhersister,Maddie. McKennna’sfavoritesubject in school is chemistry because she likes doing experiments. Her most challenging task as a senior is trying to figure out her future.

JOE SEXE - AVON'S NEW BAND INSTRUCTOR

AvonSchoolDistricthasanewband instructor, Joe Sexe, as of January 3rd. This is Joe’s first official teaching job. He is very excited and happy to be a new part of the Avon school and community. Joe went to high school in Estherville, Iowa located near the Okoboji area in Northwestern Iowa.

IT'S TIME TO PLAN THOSE SMALL ANIMAL 4-H PROJECTS!

Do you have a youth ages 5-18 who is interested in poultry or rabbits? Now is the time to get those projects started! The Bon Homme County Rabbit & Poultry Club is ready to help if you are new to small animal projects in 4-H.

SWEET CLOVER 4-H CLUB MEETS

The Sweet Clover 4-H club met February 4 at 6 p.m. President Maddy Huitema called the meeting to order. Flag Pledges were led by Lucy and Josie Schloss. Roll call topic was 'What’s your favorite animal?' and nine members were present. The secretary's report was given by Colt Wolf.

PAUL KUHLMAN, AVON'S NEW SUPERINTENDENT

Avon School District will have a new superintendent, Paul Kuhlman, starting July 1st for the 2024-2025 school year. After 32 years of teaching in Avon, Paul has decided to make the transition from teaching to a school administrator.

RODD HOLMAN HONORED AS THE FEBRUARY VETERAN OF THE MONTH

Rodd Holman is being honored as this month’s Veteran of the Month. Holman is a Veteran of the Gulf War, the War in Afghanistan, the War on Terror, and Operation Enduring Freedom. Holman entered the Navy on May 17th of 1986 and served until October 1st of 2006.

LIBRARY NEWS

Thank you everyone who attended the Library Open house on Wed. February 7th. I would like to personally thank Evelyn Conn and Janet Evans who volunteered their time to help with clean up of the building after construction and helped to organize and clean various items from the former library.
