I love Thanksgiving. I love preparing the food all day and enjoying it while sitting around a table with some of the people I love most. And there is one holiday tradition that I have grown to adore. As we sit down to eat, we share one thing we feel grateful for this year.

At the last meeting of the South-Central ABATE chapter Saturday, November 11th, the chapter presented checks to local cancer organizations.

The American Legion Auxiliary Greer Unit #11 honored Merle Stone as their October Veteran of the Month. Stone is a Veteran of the Vietnam War. He was drafted and served in the Army. Merle began his service on March 8th of 1960 and was honorably discharged March 7th of 1963.

The United States Department of Veterans Affairs has announced that all World War II Veterans are now eligible for no-cost VA health care, medical services, and nursing home care. All WWII Veterans who served between Dec. 7, 1941, and Dec.

The Wagner Red Raider Volleyball team traveled to Rapid City to participate in their third consecutive State Volleyball Tournament. Wagner entered the tourney as the 6th seed. Wagner met up with the Miller Rustlers who were the 3rd seed.

The Avon Pirates are the 2023 Class 9B State Champions with their big win over Faulkton Area Thursday, November 9th at the DakotaDome in Vermillion 32-30. The Pirates started off slow in the first quarter, allowing Faulkton Area to get on the scoreboard first 8-0.

The annual Veteran’s Day Program for Lake Andes was held at the Andes Central School Friday, November 10th. The program was designed and put together by the Andes Central Jobs for America’s Graduates (JAG) students.

Wagner Community School students honored area veterans on Friday, November 10 with a Veterans Day program held in the school gym. As veterans entered the school, FFA students welcomed them.

Wagner Raiders volleyball team is heading to State after their big win over Mobridge-Pollock 3-2 at SoDak 16. The ladies will face off against Miller at the net to start their State Volleyball action Thursday, November 16 at 6:45 MT at the Summit Arena at the Monument in Rapid City.

It’s plain and simple – only girls should play girls’ sports. This is a matter of basic biological fairness. Many Republican governors across the country have signed laws protecting girls’ sports.
