EASTER CANTATA PERFORMANCES TO BE HELD

The Bon Homme Community Choir is preparing for this year's Easter Cantata. 'Savior, Jesus Messiah' is the title for this year's Easter Cantata. The choir is again directed by Autumn Schultz, the Avon High School music teacher.

WEEK NINE LEGISLATIVE REPORTS

We started out our Monday with a couple of House bills that were sent back to us from the senate with an amended version that they had passed. The first, HB1200A was a DO NOT CONCUR BUT SEND TO A CONFERENCE COMMITTEE vote. The second HB1209A was also DO NOT CONCUR BUT SEND TO A CONFERENCE COMMITTEE.

ON TUESDAY, ANDES CENTRAL HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS PARTICIPATED IN A SAFETY COURSE COVERING HANDS-ON CPR, HANDS-ON CHOKING, USING AN AED, AND NARCAN EDUCATION. SPECIAL THANKS TO THE LADIES FROM AVERA ST. BENEDICT'S WHO TOOK TIME OUT OF THEIR DAY TO TRAIN THE STUDENTS.

The first library board meeting for 2026 was held on March 10th at the library. Dawn Kitchenmaster’s term as a board member ended with the December meeting. I would like to thank Dawn for her 15 plus years of service to the library.

SDHSAA BOARD WARNED ABOUT LEGISLATIVE INTERFERENCE IN OTHER STATES

PIERRE — A report on this year’slegislativebillsthatmay haveaffectedtheSouthDakota High School Activities Association led to a warning about state associations that are suffering from legislative interference. TheSDHSAAboard of directors got the report at their meeting on Wednesday, March 4.

With the completion of Week Eight, only one is week left in the 2026 legislative session. Property taxes are still being discussed at length. The major property tax bill that has passed so far is the Governor’ s Bill, SB 96.
