Week 5 is here, and Pierre is starting to feel like harvest and weaning season: there’s a lot to get done in a short amount of time. We’ve now got roughly 570 House and Senate bills filed, plus resolutions, this year—numbers South Dakota hasn’t seen in almost 30 years.

Yes. South Dakota Secretary of State’s Office has shared the state’s voter rolls with the U.S. Department of Justice. President Trump ordered the DOJ to collect voter rolls from all 50 states, saying the move is aimed at preventing illegal voting.

BUZZ-WORTHY SPELLING SUCCESS

Local students put their spelling skills to the test recently during the annual school spelling bee, with participants competing by grade level for top honors. In first grade, Teagan earned first place, followed by Cheyenne in second and Dominic in third.

President’s Day will be celebrated on Monday, February 16th. The library has several books (biographies) of many of the U.S Presidents. If there is a President that interests you and we do not have a book on them we may be able to borrow that book from other libraries in the state.

Some of South Dakotans' greatest needs for resources in 2025 surrounded housing, food and utilities, according to the Helpline Center's 211 data from around the state. The 211 line connects callers with community services statewide.
