PIERRE, S.D. – Governor Larry Rhoden has activated the state Drought Task Force to monitor drought conditions across South Dakota. The task force will hold its first meeting on Thursday, May 7.

Avon High School held its 2026 commencement ceremony on Sunday, honoring 19 graduates as they received their diplomas before family, friends, and community members. The Class of 2026 selected the motto, “You only live once, but if you do it right, once is enough,” by Mae West.
