BRENDA JATON SWORN IN AS ACTING MAYOR OF WAGNER

Following the recent resignation of Mayor Alyssa Mathis, Wagner City Council President Brenda Jaton has stepped up to serve as Acting Mayor until the next election in 2026. Jaton was officially sworn in as mayor during the Wagner City Council meeting held Monday, November 4th.

The Wagner Oral Interpretation team presented their Home Performance Showcase on November 3, giving family, friends, and community members the opportunity to enjoy an evening of expressive performances. Opening remarks were given by Megan Fischer, Oral Interp Coach.

ARE MEMBERS OF CONGRESS GETTING PAID DURING THE GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWN?

YES. Members of the United States Senate and House are still receiving paychecks during the government shutdown, though some lawmakers are looking to change that. Since 1983, Congress’ pay has been funded by a permanent appropriation, and their paychecks aren’t subject to annual renewal.

PIRATES PUNCH TICKET TO DOME

The Avon Pirates are Dome bound after a thrilling 38-28 victory over Colman-Egan on Friday night. The game got off to a rough start for the Pirates with an early fumble, but the defense stood tall and kept Colman-Egan from capitalizing.
