THROWBACK EVENT BRINGS SMILES WITH KIDS MONEY SAND PILE

As part of the 125th Labor Day Celebration, a few nostalgic favorites returned to the schedule, bringing back fond memories for some and new excitement for others. One such event was the Kids Money Sand Pile, held Sunday morning on Main Street by James Drug.

The savory smell of ribs filled the air at McCormick Park Sunday, August 31st, as the Dante Fire Department hosted its annual Rib Cook-Off. The event drew a hungry crowd eager to sample some of the area’s best barbecue, all while supporting a good cause.

RAIN DOESN'T DAMPEN SPIRITS AT KIDDIE PARADE

Despite a rainy start to the morning on Saturday, August 30, the Labor Day Kiddie Parade went on as planned, bringing out several young participants eager to showcase their creative costumes and decorated rides.

In a heartfelt ceremony held on the evening of Tuesday, August 26th, the Wagner Labor Day Committee continued a cherished tradition with the annual tree dedication, honoring this year's Labor Day Parade Marshals, Don and Doris Hosek.

When Treyvan Talsma’s name was announced as the South Dakota State 4-H Senior Boys All-Around Champion, his mother, Kristin, was caught off guard. “I teared up,” she recalled. “It was a complete surprise. There are so many great competitors in the state.

This year marks the 125th annual Labor Day celebration for the Wagner community. This year’s four days of events begin on Friday, August 29th and continue through Monday, September 1st. As with any small-town celebration, there are always two big announcements that kick off the festivities.
