ANDES CENTRAL STUDENTS WIN BIG AT PRAIRIE READERS

Last Wednesday March 19th, select groups of Andes Central students traveled to the Prairie Reader competition in Armour. Andes Central sent three teams to the reading competition this year. Second grade: Evyn Frederick, Zeke Bruguier, Kashton Hart, Ezra Arrow, Tatem Drappeau, and Ian Long.

Not only is Hunter Lhotak the Wagner and South Dakota Boys and Girls Club Youth of the Year, but he is also the creator and implementer of a new program at the Wagner Boys and Girls Club called Pass and Receive.

Jaydon Keith Driesen was born August 31st 2006. He is the son of Mary Beth and Allen Driesen, and brother of Caleb, Kiara, and Treyton. His favorite hobbies include playing piano, football, and baseball. He also enjoys music, shoes, and fashion.

The wrestling season has come to an end. Our girls’ wrestling team earned fifth place at the State tournament. Among these girls was Sydney Johnson, who qualified for state as a seventh grader, gaining great experience for the future.

$500 available to graduating high school seniors in four-county area Graduating seniors from four area South Dakota counties are invited to apply for the $500 Shelly Schuh Memorial scholarship.

AJ Johnson This week’s featured Andes Central senior is AJ Johnson. AJ is the son of Brian and Kathy John-son. AJ has four siblings Alex, Joey, Baylee and Claire. During his high school years, AJ has been active in National Honor Society, JAG, football, basketball and track.

TABOR - The annual District 8 Spring Meeting of the South Dakota American Legion will be held Saturday, March 29, 2025, in Tabor for Legionnaires from Turner, Bon Homme, Charles Mix, Clay, Douglas, Hutchinson and Yankton counties. The Legion business session will begin at 1:00 p.m.
