MICHAEL D. HAZUKA

Michael Dean Hazuka “Mike' of Lake Andes, owner of Mash Transportation, died at the age of 69 on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at Wagner Community Memorial Hospital-Avera in Wagner from complications of a craniotomy resulting in cardiopulmonary arrest with subarachnoid hemorrhage. There will be a life tribute held at the Lake Andes Community Center, Main Street, Lake Andes on Saturday, April 25, 2026, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. with desserts and coffee.

Mike was born to parents Frank Hazuka Jr and Berna (Hoffman) Hazuka on April 18, 1956, in Wagner. Mike graduated from Andes Central in 1975. He worked on the family farm, dabbled in guiding for hunting and fishing, before he found his lifetime career of driving semi-trucks. His interests in life included motorcycles, fishing, and hunting. Goose hunting was by far his favorite with prairie dogs as a close second. He also enjoyed fishing with his two grandsons and son-in-law even though he was sometimes just a spectator.

He is survived by his significant other of 34 years, Sandra Rolston of Lake Andes, his daughter Casandra Johnson, son-in-law Dustin Johnson, and two grandsons, Jaxson and Kaeson Johnson of Mitchell; his brother, Rick Hazuka of Mitchell, and uncle George Hazuka of Lake Andes.

He was preceded in death by his parents Frank Jr and Berna Hazuka and his brothers, Doren and Kerry Hazuka.

Cards with stories or sympathy can be sent to: Mike Hazuka Attn: to Casandra Johnson, 41379 257th St, Mitchell, SD 57301.
