RYAN J. MARTIN

A Celebration of Ryan’s Life will be held on Friday, November 6 from 4-6 p.m. at the Springfield Community Center. Peters Funeral Home in Springfield is in charge of arrangements. Ryan (Ryno) James Martin, 50, passed away unexpectedly on October 19, 2026, following a car accident. Born September 16, 1976, Ryan was the son of Jim and Angie (Jelsma) Martin. He graduated from Avon High School and began his career as a bricklayer and foreman for Williams Masonry before opening his own construction business. He also owned and operated The Dock in Running Water, where he brought people together and made countless memories. Above all else, Ryan was a proud father to his daughter, Amrah, and son, Aidan. He loved them deeply and took immense pride in the people they were becoming. Ryan lived life on his own terms. He was known for his signature smirk, unmistakable laugh, and most of all his authenticity. Beneath his carefree spirit, Ryan had the most generous heart. Ryan was the kind of person who would show up when someone needed help and stand up for his friends without a second thought. If you were lucky enough to be one of his people, you knew it. Ryan’s legacy will live on in the countless lives he touched simply by being himself. Ryan is survived by his parents, Angie and Jim Martin; his children, Amrah and Aidan (Jen Ireland); his brother, Chad (Amy) Martin; nephews: Gannon and Gavin (MacKenzie) Martin and baby Martin; and Katie Pudwill. He will be severely missed by the close-knit Martin and Jelsma families whose names, if listed, would extend beyond the reach of this page. He also leaves behind a wide circle of fiercely loyal friends and the many regulars at The Dock, who were all family in his eyes. He was surrounded by love. Ryan is preceded in death by his grandparents; Doyle Martin, Shirley (Martin) Roseland, Robert and Beverley Jelsma.
