John DenOuden, 81, of Avon passed away at his home on Sunday, December 21, 2025 after an 18 year battle with cancer. John’s wishes were that no services will be held at this time. A Celebration of John’s Life will be held at a later date.

Daniel Ray Winckler, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother, passed away on December 6, 2025, in Las Vegas, Nevada, surrounded by family. He was 74 years old. Daniel was born on September 6, 1951, in Scotland to Alvin and Frances “Pat” Winckler.

Carole Lea Bartunek, 88, of Yankton, passed away peacefully on December 23, 2025, surrounded by family. A devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to many, Carole’s warmth and laughter touched all who knew her.

Marcus Shields, 50, of Rapid City, died Wednesday, December 17, 2025 in Rapid City. Native American Church funeral services will be 10 a.m. on Saturday, December 27 at the White Swan Community Center in Lake Andes. Burial is in the Native American Church Cemetery, rural Wagner.

Doris Kulhavy, age 94, of Colman, passed away peacefully on December 11, 2025, at Dougherty Hospice in Sioux Falls. Doris was born on November 11, 1931, in Springfield, to Herbert and Fern Fitch (Lange). She spent her life devoted to her family, her work, her community and her faith.

Private services for Judy Wynia, 56, were held. Burial was in the Pioneer Cemetery, rural Avon. Peters Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Judy Kay Wynia was born May 18, 1969 at Yankton, the daughter of Johnny “Jack” and Gertrude (Weissensel) Wynia.

Vaughn Arpan died Wednesday, December 3, 2025 at Advena Living on Tenth in Topeka, KS. Funeral services were Wednesday, December 10 at the YST South Gym, with military honors. Peters Funeral Home in Wagner was in charge of arrangements.

Gerald “Jerry” Dean Evans Sr., 75, went to his heavenly home Monday, December 1 at Avera McKennan Hospital. A Celebration of Jerry’s Life was held Saturday, December 6 at the Auxiliary Gym of Andes Central High School in Lake Andes. Arrangements by Koehn Bros. Funeral Home in Lake Andes.

Allen Edward Kindt, 88, went to his heavenly home Friday, November 28, 2025 at his home near Delmont under hospice care. Funeral service was Friday, December 5 at the Wagner United Methodist Church in Wagner. Allen was born May 29, 1937, to Edward and Grace (Carpenter) Kindt.
