The original plan was to apply for a 2.5 million dollar grant (tax payer money) to build a trail from Platte to Ravinia, about 30 miles. This plan was not approved by the state railroad board at two different meetings. Rails to Trails needs state approval to apply for a grant.

Armistice Day officially received its name in America in 1926 through a Congressional resolution. It was first issued on Nov. 11, 1919, by President Woodrow Wilson. It was on the 11th day of the 11th hour of the 11th month that the fighting in WWI ended in 1918.
