We have a New Year’s tradition at South Dakota Magazineto make resolutions on traveling South Dakota. As you can imagine, our staff knows the state pretty well. The resolutions are a fun way to challenge ourselves to try new places and activities.

I’d give my favorite shotgun to tell you about my ice fishing, but it just hasn’t happened as the unseasonal warm weather has kept me off the ice. The recent drownings at Lake Poinsett will make it even more difficult to get Betsy’s permission.

This is the time of year when we reflect on our personal successes and failures, then use that knowledge to set new strategies for our future.

January 6 was a horrifying day. Violent protesters stormed the Capitol, attacking law enforcement and endangering everyone working inside, from senators’ staffers to maintenance workers. Peaceful protest is a hallmark of our country. The right of assembly is a sacred American right.

I just finished reading an article about 2020 being one of the best ever years for South Dakota Game, Fish, & Parks outdoor activities. The Corona Virus actually encouraged people to get outside to enjoy themselves.

One definition of the word murmur is “to express one’s discontent in a subdued manner.” So, it makes sense that a heart murmur is often a soft-spoken signal that something may be going on in the heart. The heart does not always shout to get our attention like it does with a heart attack.

Letter to the editor 1/5/21 Our Supreme Court recently rejected a bid by the Texas attorney general to rule on the fraudulent ballots counted in the recent presidential election. Why did our highest court decide to “sit on their pens” and not take the case?

Some health problems are much larger than the health care system and cannot be fixed by doctors, nurses, hospitals, and the rest of the traditional health care team.
