PROGRESS REPORT

I’m back in South Dakota for the August work period. While I don’t believe Congress should be adjourning with so many critical issues facing our country, I wanted to give you an update on my work so far, seven months into my first term.

This Week in Rotary News

The Wagner Rotary Club met for its weekly meeting on Wednesday, July 24th and were served a deliciousmealbyGeriMcAdargahand Margaret Mach. These two ladies turn out such wonderful meals plus cold beverages, coffee, and a different dessert each week.

WOLLASTON LAKE - PART II

Last week’s July 17th column covered the first segment of our Wollaston adventure. I fished with my longtime friend, Art Jones, his son, Scott, and grandson, Carter. We drove to Saskatchewan’s Lake Wollaston, and we stayed with Wilderness Family Outfitters.

HIGH ADVENTURE ON WOLLASTON LAKE - PART I

Northern Saskatchewan’s Wollaston Lake is the largest bifurcation lake in the world. This means it drains in two directions. To the northwest it drains into Lake Athabasca via the Mackenzie River system and on into the Arctic Ocean. The other drainage flows into Hudson Bay via Reindeer Lake.

Rotary News

The Wagner Rotary Club was brought to order on Wednesday, July 10 by its new President Bill Frei. Bill will be serving until July 1st, 2020. President Bill gave a good swipe at the bell which caught Jerry Weber’s attention immediately.

ADDRESSING PERSUASIVE TECH ON INTERNET PLATFORMS

The internet has come a long way from the days of dial-up in the early ‘90s. Anyone who connected to the internet back then can probably still hear the unique dial-up tone the computer would make as you waited to surf the web.

I promised last week that today’s column would take a look at our recent fishing trip to Saskatchewan’s Wollaston Lake. We had a marvelous time as we caught hundreds of trophy-sized fish, but I need more time to put all of it together in an orderly manner. I’ll go with a two part series of columns.
