Around my home Wagner area, I did not hear any glowing reports about the pheasant opener on October 20th. I actually heard some miserable reports.

My pickup is thirteen years old and answers to the name of Lizzie. When we brought her home, I figured for sure that this was the last new Chevy, or for that matter, new anything I would own. Now I’m not so sure.

We were cruising along through the summer and fall of this year until we came to October. To me, that is when time slowed down to a crawl. I think it was because there were Halloween Decorations out starting in September, and it just took forever to get to Halloween.
The 2018 election is an important milestone for South Dakota elections. It was 100 years ago – on November 5, 1918 – that South Dakota voters, all men, gave women the right to vote in our state for the first time. It wasa long-awaitedvictory for voting rights for women.

During the summers of the mid-fifties, from the time I was a 6th grader until high school graduation when I had to get a job, Dad took my brother John and me on camping/ fishing expeditions into remote Canadian lakes. We never saw another fisherman.

Tuesday, October 23rd has finally arrived and now it is gone. That date has been circled on my calendar for a long time as the day I will have surgery for cataracts. I’ll let you know how it went next week. Should they even call it surgery?
Over the past few months, Linda and I have been getting ready to turn the Governor’s Mansion over to its next occupants. We’ve been working with state maintenance crews to replace light bulbs, repaint rooms, clean out the drains, and make other small improvements.
