THERE IS SUCH A THING AS AN "EASY" ELK

In my column of two weeks ago, I expressed concern for possible meat spoilage as my coming Wyoming elk hunt was scheduled for late August and potential warm weather. My apprehensions were needless as it was 34 degrees F. when I dropped my elk early on the morning of August 28th.

RAISING RILEY AND OTHER CHORES

Riley Crosley from Crofton, NB is our grandson, and he has Monday off from school this week. The plan is for him to stay overnight on Sunday and to be home by Tuesday. That means I had better brush up on my sports.

MY FAVORITE TIME OF YEAR

I know one South Dakotan who lives all year in anticipation of the Turner County Fair. Others yearn for the first Forestburg melon stand to open, or for the leaves in Spearfish Canyon to turn color, or the state capitol to be decked out in its Christmas glory.
