CHARLES MIX COUNTY 4-HER’S EXCEL AT STATE SHOOT

Youth from the Charles Mix County Shooting Sports program qualified for State Shoot. They traveled to Ft. Pierre April 26-28. Charles Mix County was well represented, as there were many awards received.

WCS FRESHMEN OFFER FREE SOFTBALL CAMP

SEASON ENDS WITH LOSS TO PARKSTON

The Wagner Red Raiders wrapped up their 2024 season on Friday, May 17th with a 5-15 loss to Parkston. Mara Wright started in the circle for Wagner, walking two. Hannah Holzbauer finished the last two innings for the Red Raiders walking seven and striking out four.

PIRATES FALL TO FREEMAN/MARION/FREEMAN ACADEMY 9-10

Avon Varsity Softball fell to Freeman/Marion/ Freeman Academy 10-9 on Friday on the final play of the game in the bottom of the 7th. Avon struck first in the second after Kaeli Wallinga grounded out scoring one run.

PIRATES DEFEAT PARKSTON 11-5

Avon Varsity Pirates won big over Parkston 11-5 Tuesday. The Pirates got on the board in the top of the first inning after Rilyn Thury tripled, Macy Voigt doubled and Pria Sesler tripled, each scoring one run.

SOUTHEAST ELITE EARN THE WIN AGAINST VERMILLION

The Southeast Elite 12U softball team prevailed in both games against the Vermillion Flamez (White) Friday night in Avon. In the first game, the Elite jumped on top in the first inning when Leah DeWald started a 2 out rally with a single to left. Raegan Brandt reach on an error by the first baseman.
