JAMES ANDERSH

Funeral services for James Andersh, were Thursday, January 11 at St. John Lutheran Church in Wagner. Burial was in ZCBJ cemetery, rural Wagner with Military Honors. Peters Funeral Home of Wagner was in charge of arrangements.

James Andersh was born April 25, 1930 on the farm NE of Wagner, the son of Ladislov (Laddie) and Mary (Rados) Andersh. Jim died January 5, 2024 in the Landmann Jungman Memorial Hospital in Scotland.

Jim grew up on a farm east of Wagner, attended country school, graduated from Wagner High School in 1948. After high school he farmed with his parents for a time then enlisted in the US Army from 1951-1953, serving a tour in Korea during the Korean war. After returning from Korea, he worked in a tire shop in Lincoln, NE, later returning to farm east of Wagner.

He married Katherine Louise Reich from Lincoln Nebraska January 2, 1954 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lincoln. He met Katherine while her Dad (John Reich) help build Fort Randall Dam. One daughter and five sons blessed their union.

Jim was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Wagner, baptized and confirmed December 1953, He served on many church boards over the years. Jim also served on the Charles Mix County Weed Board for 43 years, served as Treasurer for Lone Tree Township and was a member of the American Legion for more than 30 years.

After retiring from farming he did carpentry/woodworking for friends, family, neighbors, and the Tyndall nursing home.

Jim is survived by his six children: Dennis (Eileen) Andersh of Dayton, OH, Connie (Doug) Blaha of Topeka, KS, Douglas (LaVonne) Andersh and Ron Andersh of Wagner, Scott (Karie) Andersh of Omaha, NE, Brad (Maureen) Andersh of Peoria, IL; seven grandchildren, three great grandchildren; several step grandchildren and step great grandchildren, nephews, nieces and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his wife Katherine; parents Laddie and Mary Andersh; brother Don Andersh; sisters-in-law Carole Andersh and Mary Ann Tomasevic; brother-in-law Richard Tomasevic; parents-in-law John and Lydia Reich.
