LILLIAN MUNROE IRON WING

The family of Lillian Munroe Iron Wing of Sioux Falls, announces with sadness the peaceful passing of Lillian Iron Wing on May 2, at the Sanford Medical Center in Sioux Falls. Known for her strength, kindness and humor, Lillian will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Lillian’s family asks that she be remembered for the joy she brought to others and not the sadness of her passing.

Lillian was born and raised as a member of the Garden Hill First Nation, Manitoba, Canada. During her first marriage she raised three children in Thompson, Manitoba. Then Lillian and DZ Iron Wing (Darrell Zephier) were married in Greenwood on July 22, 2000. Together they spent time at pow wows, with family and friends; her favorite pastimes were restaurants and the slots at the casino which took her mind off her Parkinson's disease.

She is survived by her devoted husband Darrell “DZ”; three children: Cora Nadeau and her three children Amira Kingsley, Gretchen Kingsley and Dakotah Nadeau; Jay Nadeau and his son Logan Nadeau, and Vince Nadeau; four great grandchildren: Aurelia, Cali, Connor and River: two sisters: Valdine McPherson and Lena Monias; three brothers: George Munroe, Mark Munroe and Oberon Munroe; and several brothers-in-law, sisters-inlaw, nieces and nephews.

Lillian was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers: Angus Munroe, Carl Wood, Eddy Munroe, Cuthbert “Gabby” Munroe, and William “Willy” Munroe.

Peters Funeral Home in Wagner was in charge of arrangements.
