Graveside service for Norma Halbur, 87, of St. Paul, Minnesota will be held Saturday, June 15 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery, Wagner with a light lunch to follow at the Dante Auditorium, 323 Main Street in Dante.

Norma died peacefully March 12, 2024. She was born in Wagner February 12, 1937 to John “Casey” and Christina (Kocer) Buus. Norma graduated from Wagner High School and then attended the University of South Dakota in Vermillion, with a degree in Education. She married Lawrence Halbur in December 1959. She is survived by three children: Kris (Neil) Brown, Julie (Mark) Lorenson, Tom Halbur and long-time loving companion Russell “Rusty” Wivell.

While raising her children Norma had a successful career in teaching, banking and later as an employment recruiter where she achieved great success. Norma was passionate about giving back to the community and volunteering. She was an avid sports enthusiast and very athletic. She loved numerous games of cards, especially bridge and spending time with family and friends. Norma loved to travel and enjoyed many trips in the US and overseas.

She is preceded in death by daughter Amy Elizabeth; her parents; and brother John Buus.

She is survived by her three children: Kris (Neil) Brown, Julie (Mark) Lorenson and Bom Halbur; long-time loving companion Russell “Rusty” Wives; four grandchildren: Derek (Wei Du), Nicole Brown, Kacie and Josh Lorenson, and one great grandson Nathaniel Brown; sister Karen (Bruce) Lemon; and many nieces and nephews.
