Mary Varin, 81, of Lake Andes, died Thursday, August 11, 2022 at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls. Private services are being held. Peters Funeral Home in Wagner is in charge of arrangements.

Funeral services for Gregg Weisser, 57, of Springfield were held Friday, August 12 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Avon. Burial was in the church cemetery, rural Avon. Peters Funeral Chapel in Avon was in charge of arrangements.

Trinity Thin Elk, 22, of Lake Andes, died Monday, August 8, 2022 at his home in Lake Andes. Funeral services were Friday, August 12 at the White Swan Community Center in Lake Andes. Burial was in St. Phillip’s Episcopal Cemetery in Lake Andes.

Funeral services for Clayton Wittmeier, 91, of Avon were held Saturday, August 6 at the First Baptist Church in Avon, with Pastor Bill Van Gerpen officiating. Burial was in the Trinity Presbyterian Cemetery, rural Avon, with military honors.

Wanda Rae (Martin) Johnsen passed away at home peacefully on Friday, August 5, 2022, surrounded by her loved ones. Wanda was born May 12, 1950, to Leon and Norma Martin in Wagner. She graduated from Wagner High School in 1968 and Dakota Wesleyan University in 1972.

Memorial Services for Deloris Kubal, 86, of Yankton, formerly of the Wagner area will be held Wednesday, August 10 at Peters Funeral Home in Wagner. Interment will be at the Scotty Philip Cemetery in Ft. Pierre. Deloris Kubal was born April 3, 1936 to James and Mary (Soukup) Kubal in Tabor.

Edward Andersh passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, July 24th, 2022. He had battled several health issues over the past couple of years. We are embracing that he is at peace. Edward was born December 15, 1953, to Allen Andersh and Jane (Horner) Kostel in Wagner.

Mary Patocka was born February 10, 1936 at home in Ravinia, the daughter of Frank and Mary (Dvorak) Kmoch. She died Thursday, July 21 at St. Michael’s Hospital in Tyndall. Mary attended Ravinia High School and graduated with a BA from Southern State College in Springfield.

Gerald F. DeRoos was born June 29, 1930 in Springfield, to Pier G and Anna (Mesman) DeRoos. He died, Tuesday, July 13 at his home in Granbury, Texas. The service was held held on Monday July 18 at Wiley Funeral Home, Granbury.
