Weather Watch My pickup is thirteen years old and answers to the name of Lizzie. When we brought her home, I figured for sure that this was the last new Chevy, or for that matter, new anything I would own. Now I’m not so sure.

Weather Watch During the summers of the mid-fifties, from the time I was a 6th grader until high school graduation when I had to get a job, Dad took my brother John and me on camping/ fishing expeditions into remote Canadian lakes. We never saw another fisherman.

Weather Watch Tuesday, October 23rd has finally arrived and now it is gone. That date has been circled on my calendar for a long time as the day I will have surgery for cataracts. I’ll let you know how it went next week. Should they even call it surgery?

Over the past few months, Linda and I have been getting ready to turn the Governor’s Mansion over to its next occupants. We’ve been working with state maintenance crews to replace light bulbs, repaint rooms, clean out the drains, and make other small improvements.

“Bohemian Concrete. That’s what we’re going to need,” said one of my farmer friends. Boy, I hadn’t heard that expression since I don’t know when. It means that we’ll need the ground to freeze up hard enough to support all of the equipment when we start harvesting again. When will that be?
