These last few weeks, the Lady Pirates hosted the Parkston Trojans and the AC/DC Thunder to start off their season. They also traveled to Tripp to play the Nighthawks, and Alcester to take on the Cubs.

With the new school year underway, homecoming week is quickly approaching. The theme for homecoming this year is “Superheroes.” The festivities for the exciting week commence on Monday, September 11, 2023 at 7:30 P.M. in the Avon gym with the crowning of homecoming king and queen.

The 2023 Andes Central/ Dakota Christian Lady Thunder volleyball team is coached by head coach, Chris Derry, and assistant coaches Josie DeHaan, and Lisa Foley. Coach Derry has been coaching for 20 years and this will be his 5th year coaching volleyball.

The Wagner volleyball team hosted the Gregory Spikers on Thursday, September 7th. The Raiders swept the Spikers in 3 sets for a Homecoming victory. Scores of the match were 25-13, 25-18, and 25-15.

The Wagner Volleyball team kicked off homecoming week with wins at all three levels against the Platte/Geddes Black Panthers. The varsity came out ready to play and finished strong with scores of 25-22, 26-24, and 26-24. The JV fought hard and won with scores of 25-21 and 2515.

The Red Raider football team defeated the TDA/AC/DC Night Hawks Friday, September 8th by a score of 32-12 to move to 2-1 on the season. The offensive attack was led by sophomore QB Gannon Knebel who rushed for 256 yards and 4 touchdowns.
