Greer Unit #11, American Legion Auxiliary held their monthly meeting May 16, at the Post Home with 14 members present. The meeting was called to order by President Linda Youngbluth. The opening prayer was read by Chaplain Margie Stone.

The 34th annual Academic Excellence Recognition luncheon was held on Monday, April 29th in Pierre. This event highlights the academic achievements of the best and brightest 1% of students throughout South Dakota from the Class of 2024.

President Elect Jordan Weber welcomed everyone to Wagner Rotary’s May 15th meeting. There was one guest present, Dana Sanderson, who spoke briefly about the upcoming 605 Unity Jam. The event is a Jamboree of Art and Music, a multi-cultural celebration.

Many veterans are entitled to compensation from the United States Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) for service-connected injuries or disabilities. Compensation can be awarded to a veteran who incurs or aggravates a disability while on active military service.

The Wagner Chamber of Commerce Beautification Committee spent last Thursday morning planting flowers around the city. The committee members enjoyed the beautiful weather as they filled the pots with flowers.

National Police Week is observed this year on May 15th through May 21st. This is a week that offers honor, remembrance, and peer support for police officers. Police officers deserve to be honored and recognized for their dedication and hard work for their communities.

The Bon Homme County Child Protection (CP) Team has been meeting throughout the school year to identify needs of families in the county and to find creative ways to provide for those needs.

10 Years Ago – 2014 Riley Namminga received the Bronze Medal in Houston, TX in the I-SWEEP contest. Joel Finck received an Honorary Doctor of Divinity degree from Saint Louis Theological Seminary. Senior Mallory Cihak was awarded the Buche Foods Underdog Scholarship.
