WAGNER SENDS TWO DELEGATES TO ATTEND SDSU ENERGIZE CONFERENCE

Brenda Jaton (Wagner City Council member) and Mayor, Tammy Thorton, attended the 2024 South Dakota State University (SDSU) Energize Conference held May 22nd and 23rd in Hot Springs. This was the first time that anyone from Wagner had attended the event.

BIGFOOT CONFERENCE HELD AT FT. RANDALL CASINO

The Fort Randall Casino organized a Bigfoot Conference this past June 7th and 8th. The goal of this conference was to spread awareness, educate people on the purpose of this type of conference, to find definitive proof and to help write a law to protect the Bigfoot species.

MEMBERS RECEIVE 70 YEAR CDA MEMBERSHIP PINS

Catholic Daughter Court St. Rose of Lima #700, Wagner, held their annual potluck and awards ceremony during their regular meeting Thursday, June 13 at St. John’s Catholic Church. Pictured on left is Bonnie Novak receiving her 70 year membership pin from Regent Halie Kirwan.

Rotary News

The Rotary Bell had a staccato ring Wednesday, June 19th as President Becky Brunsing officiated at her second to last meeting. Preparations for a new Rotary year are in the works and Brunsing only has one more meeting before turning the gavel over to a new president.

BOYS STATE SPEAK ON EXPERIENCE AT LEGION MEETING

At the American Legion monthly meeting held Thursday, June 20th, several students from the Wagner Community School were invited to give short presentations after the dinner. Frank Soukup and Carter Smejkal were asked to speak on their experiences at Boys State.

NEW LAWS IMPACTING VETERANS

As an advocate for veterans, it is the responsibility of the South Dakota Department of Veterans Affairs to review all legislative bills that will impact veterans. This year, the department introduced two bills and monitored 29 pieces of proposed legislation.
