WAGNER STUDENTS HIT THE RIGHT NOTE AT KIMBALL CONTEST

Fourteen Wagner HS Choir Students competed at Vocal Solo/Ensemble Contest in Kimball on Wednesday, February 4th. We had 9 events which featured 5 Solos, 2 Duets, 1 Quartet, and 1 Small Ensemble singing to receive a rating.

BON HOMME/AVON WRESTERS EARN RUNNER-UP AT STATE DUALS

The Bon Homme/Avon wrestlers competed at the State Dual Tournament Saturday in Pierre, where they wrestled hard throughout the day and earned runner-up honors following a tough championship match against Canton. The final score in the title dual was 37-26 in favor of Canton.

During the week of Feb. 16–20, communities across the state are celebrating South Dakota School Board Recognition Week, a time set aside to honor the dedicated individuals who serve on local school boards.

WAGNER-BON HOMME GYMNASTS FINISH SEASON WITH PRIDE AND PROGRESS

Saturday, February 14th Varsity Beam: Aubry Williams, Addison Cuka and Emma McNinch all competed beam individual day. Amelia Rathgeber also competed this event as an exhibition gymnast. Emma McNinch scored a 7.7667 and Aubry Williams scored an 8.0833. Varsity Floor: Aubry Williams scored an 8.

POPPE REACHES 500 WINS

When Coach Brad Poppe earned his 500th career victory as head coach of the Avon Lady Pirates, his first thoughts weren’t about numbers, they were about people. “It makes me realize how fortunate I have been to have coached so many amazing young ladies that enjoyed playing the game,” Poppe said.

BUZZ-WORTHY SPELLING SUCCESS

Local students put their spelling skills to the test recently during the annual school spelling bee, with participants competing by grade level for top honors. In first grade, Teagan earned first place, followed by Cheyenne in second and Dominic in third.

President’s Day will be celebrated on Monday, February 16th. The library has several books (biographies) of many of the U.S Presidents. If there is a President that interests you and we do not have a book on them we may be able to borrow that book from other libraries in the state.

What a special moment for Wagner and for one of its own as Wagner’s Ashlyn Koupal was recently selected to play in the McDonald’s All American Game, becoming the first South Dakota girl in history to earn the honor.
