The Avon School District has hired Jill Irwin to teach as a middle school and high school special education teacher for the 2024-2025 school year. Jill has been teaching for 19 years. She spent one year as an English Language Arts teacher and the other 18 years as a preschool teacher.

Our brain releases chemicals into our body that impact functions in our body, such as our mood. There are four chemicals that commonly support “feeling good,” and they are also known as “happiness chemicals.” These four chemicals are dopamine, oxytocin, serotonin, and endorphins.

The evening of Sunday, August 11th was an evening filled with hugs, laughs and many tears. On that evening the family of Braxton Kreber was presented with a beautiful bench. The bench was given to the family from the Class of 2028 in honor of their recently passed classmate, Braxton Kreber.

About 80 people gathered in the Avon City Park on August 6th for the summer reading finale put on by the Avon Public Library. The afternoon started with 16 children meeting at the school to build 2-liter pop bottle rockets with Paul Kuhlman, assisted by Loretta Knodel, Rilyn Thury, and Hoyt Brandt.

10 Years Ago – 2014 The Avon school’s science department received a $25,000 grant through the GroRural Education Program. Friedensberg Bible Church held a summer children’sconcertfeaturing violinist Amy Redhage and her fiddling children.

Ed Bruner is a Veteran of World War II. He was drafted into the service in 1944 at the tail end of World War II. Bruner served as part of the United States Air Force. His length of service was 18 months and two days. Even at 96 years of age, that was one detail that Ed did not forget.

The Department of Veterans Affairs has overhauled its registry for veterans exposed to burn pits and other airborne hazards overseas, working with the Defense Department to include 4.7 million veterans who served in locations with potentially dangerous air quality.
