WEEK 1 LEGISLATIVE REPORTS

As a representative, I am chairman of the Transportation committee and a member of State affairs. Weekly articles will reflect mainly of what is happening in those committees and what has happened on the floor. The first week laid the foundation for the rest of the 2024 session.

WEEK 1 LEGISLATIVE REPORTS

We have just finished the first week of 99th legislative session in which we heard the State of the State, State of the Judiciary, and State of the Tribes. We are already hearing multiple bills in our committees.

WAGNER'S NEW POSTMASTER, CALLIE STRAND

Anyone who has been to the Wagner Post Office recently may have seen a new face behind the counter and in the office. As of December 2nd, Wagner has a new postmaster, Callie Strand.

ILLEGALLY DUMPED SNOW CAUSES SAFETY ISSUES

PIERRE, S.D. - The South Dakota Department of Transportation (SDDOT) reminds the public and commercial snow removal operators that it is illegal to place or dump excess snow on highway right-of-way, which includes driving surfaces, shoulders, and ditches.

As we enter into our first week of session, and as I prepare to deliver the State of the State Address, I can’t help but think about some of the core reasons why we all engage in public service.

A new statewide poll has exposed deep concerns among South Dakota voters that the U.S. democratic system of government is at risk and also revealed that almost half of voters agree that violence is an acceptable method of protecting the democracy.
