PIRATES SEASON COMES TO A CLOSE

Avon Pirates football season came to a heartbreaking end Thursday night, October 31st as Canistota played a very tough game to give the Pirates the loss 8-16. The first quarter found both teams scoreless as both sides of the defense stayed strong.

MILLER CHALLENGING SCHOENFISH

Kyle Schoenfish, a Republican from Scotland, was first elected to the South Dakota Legislature in the fall of 2012, when he won a seat in the House. He was appointed to the Senate by Gov. Kristi Noem beginning with the 2020 session following the resignation of Stace Nelson.

AVON VOLLEYBALL SENIORS AND THEIR PARENTS HONORED

Avon volleyball seniors and their parents were recognized during their game on Friday night, October 25th. Senior members of the Avon Pirates volleyball team are Macy Voigt, Kaeli Wallinga, Karlie DeVries, Kinley Doom and Lila Vanderlei.

BREAST CANCER SURVIVORS' JOURNEYS

The month of October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. According to Cancer.org, in 2024, there will be an estimated 310,720 new cases of invasive breast cancer in women and 2,790 new cases in men. Breast cancer is the most common cancer found in American women after nonmelanoma skin cancer.
