LOREN BUCHHOLZ
Loren Lee Buchholz (aka Eddie Haskel), 66, of Tripp, passed away June 19th, 2026 at home. Loren was born on July 10th, 1959 in Parkston to Alfred and Josephine (Jensen) Buchholz. His family moved around growing up and went between family farms, Nebraska, and small South Dakota towns. He graduated from Tripp High School in 1977, where his friends called him Eddie Haskel for the resemblance to the “Leave it to Beaver” star. After high school, he attended Springfield USD and got a 2-year associate degree as a diesel mechanic. Springfield USD is where he met his wife, Marlene Novak. Marlene and Loren were married for almost 47 years, their wedding being August 11, 1979 at the Catholic Church in Martin. They moved to a farm near Tripp and had two kids, Matthew and Jason. After the boys graduated, they spent some time in Wilcox, Nebraska working on the Woolen family farm, but came back to Tripp to run a convenience store (the Prairie Pumper) with his uncle Alvin and his wife Marlene. His favorite pastime was camping with his wife. They visited several campsites over the years and made a lot of memories with family. He also enjoyed bowling, darts, watching car racing, hunting both deer and pheasant, gardening, reading books, watching western movies, and almost anything outdoors. He spent most of his life fixing things up, helping friends, and spending time with his kids, grandkids, and great- grandkids. He was also an avid member of a car club called Street Cruisers and the National Dart Association. In recent years, Loren drove bus for the local school district and enjoyed driving and getting to see all of the kids every day. Loren is survived by his wife, Marlene; sons Matthew Buchholz of Sioux Falls, and Jason (Ashlie) Buchholz of Springfield; five grandchildren Jordan (Mikey) Buchholz of Sioux Falls, Dylan (Tate) Buchholz of Alexandria, Alexa (Erwin) Buchholz of Mitchell, and Gavin and Brody Buchholz of Springfield; two great-grandchildren, Phoenix and Violet; and numerous other friends and family.
