Funeral Services for Walter Dean Nedved, 89, of Wagner were Tuesday, September 8 at the United Methodist Church in Wagner, with burial in the Wagner ZCBJ Cemetery. Peters Funeral Home in Wagner was in charge of arrangements.

Marlene Rose Cournoyer, 87, was born December 13, 1938, to Harold and Hazel (Flood) Cournoyer. She was one of twelve children. Marlene married Phillip “Sonny” Drapeau and together they welcomed six children: Faye, Kevin, Mike, Laura, Karen, and Denise.

Jonathan Scott Hambelton, Sr. 'Hamz,' 32, of Marty, was born to Wanda LeRoy and Garrett Patterson Sr. in Yankton on November 16, 1992. On September 2, 2026 he began his journey to the Spirit World at the Wagner Community Memorial Hospital in Wagner.

Funeral services for Russell Bechtold, 85, of Avon, were Friday, August 28 at Zion Lutheran Church in Avon. Burial was in the Trinity Presbyterian Cemetery, rural Avon. Peters Funeral Chapel in Avon was in charge of arrangements.

A Rosary Service for Joseph Anderson, age 70, of Kansas City, MO, formerly of Platte and Wagner, will be held at St. John Catholic Church in Wagner at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, September 4. The funeral Mass will be at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church in Platte at 11:00 a.m.

Phyllis Ramona Felicia Sully, 98, died Saturday, August 15, 2026 at the Lake Andes Senior Living Center. Funeral services were Wednesday, August 19 at the Lighthouse Church in Wagner. Burial was in the Greenwood Presbyterian Cemetery, rural Greenwood.

Funeral services for Walter Schaffer, 84, formerly of Mound City, were Monday, August 17 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Mound City. Burial followed at the Mound City Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home.

Janice (Jan) Marie Denker Jiricek of Greeley, Colorado, passed away on July 28, 2026, at the age of 86. She was born on June 29, 1940, south of Wagner to Edward Carl Denker and Hazel Blanch (Dunsmore) Denker. Janice attended Wagner High School in Wagner and graduated in 1958.
