The Pirate golf team kicked off their season on Monday April 8th at the Mitchell Lakeview golf course. This 2024 season the Pirates are being coached by Jeff Haenfler. This is his tenth year as the golf coach. Senior members of the golf team are McKenna Kocmich, Landon Thury and Noah Watchorn.

After a very rainy beginning to the 2024 softball season with several games being cancelled or postponed, the Avon softball team will finally have their first game April 8th at Scotland. The next event for the team will be a softball tournament held in Avon Saturday, April 13th starting at 10 a.m.

Avon had a beautiful day to host their softball tournament on Saturday with temps in the 80's. The Pirates finished the tourney with 7th place. Congratulations ladies and good luck on your softball season. Photos by Amy Vanderlei

The Andes Central/Dakota Christian Thunder started their golf season April 5th at the Class B Classic that was held at the Mitchell Lakeview Golf Course. This season the golfers are coached by head coach, Darryl Deurmier who is assisted by Traci Niewenhuis.

ACDC traveled to Menno Thursday, April 11. Girls: Shot: Halle Olson 7th 32’ 1 ¼” 200: Josie Brouwer 5th 28.70 Leah Brown 6th 28.79 400 Leah Brown 1st 1:04.59 300 hurdles: Josie Brouwer 4th 49.56 1600 Sprint Medley: 7th 5:08.

AC/DC traveled to Wagner for the Wagner Invitational Tuesday, April 9. Girls: 100: Josie Brouwer 3rd 13.74 200: Josie Brouwer 4th 28.28 Leah Brown 6th 28.85 400: Leah Brown 6th 1:05.72 300 Hurdles: Josie Brouwer 3rd 49.

On Friday, April 12, Wagner took part in the Avon Relays on what turned out to be a gorgeous day for track and field with fair skies, temperatures, and a wind that was almost nonexistent. The boys team tied for 2nd place overall in the meet, scoring 103 points.

On Tuesday, April 9, the Wagner boys and girls track and field teams participated in their first competition of the year as they played host to 17 teams.
