Avon Lady Pirates hosted Menno Tuesday night, January 30th where they earned the win 51-21. Courtney Sees led the scoreboard with 16 points, Kinley Doom had 12 and Rylin Thury added 9. Leading in rebounds was Thury and Lila Vanderlei, each with 6 Sees had 6 assists for the night and 7 steals.

Avon 59, Menno 33 Avon hosted Menno Tuesday, January 30 where they took the win 59-33.

With four champions, the Bon Homme-Scotland-Avon girls wrestling team took second place at the Yankton Girls Tournament February 3. Britney Rueb won the 120-pound division and was voted by the coaches as the outstanding wrestler.

Basketball season is in full swing! The Lady Pirates opened their season with a game against the Gregory Gorillas on December 5, 2023. The girls won the game with the final score being 57-37. After playing against some very challenging opponents, the team has a record of 7-5.

Andes Central/ Dakota Christian defeated Colome 64-11. Josie Brouwer led the team with 16 points, Mahpiya Irving had 14 and Halle Olson 10. Halle Olson, Mahpiya Irving and Claire Johnson each pulled down 4 rebounds.

Andes Central/ Dakota Christian traveled to fell to the Wagner Red Raiders, 56-70 February 1st. Josie Brouwer was the leading scorer with 18 points, Mahpiya Irving scored 12 and Gabbie Olson 9. Halle Olson and Josie Brouwer both pulled down 9 rebounds.

Andes Central/ Dakota Christian traveled to fell to the Bon Homme Cavaliers Tuesday, January 29th by 2 points with a final score of 43-45. Josie Brouwer was the leading scorer with 12 points, Mahpiya Irving scored 8 and Nadia VanZuidan 7.

It is not often that a family gets to watch three of their children play on the same sports team. Luckily for Joey and Antoinette Cournoyer that is their current reality when it comes to their sons’ Carter, Joey and Brady.

The Raiders traveled to Hanson Tuesday night to take on Hanson. The boys were ranked just above the Beavers in the region standing prior to the game. The game was close the entire way, the score was 17-17 after the first period and Hanson led 28-27 at the half.
