The Lady Raiders hosted the 7-1 Parkston Trojans last Thursday night in girls basketball action. Wagner stormed out of the gate taking a 21-11 lead after the first.

Wagner Bon Homme gymnasts competed in the Fort Pierre Invite Friday, January 5th. Wagner Bon Homme gymnasts woke up early to compete in the 6-team tournament in Fort Pierre hosted by all the teams involved! The girls were anxious yet excited to finally have another meet this season.

Wagner Bon Homme Competed in Vermillion Varsity and Junior Varsity Dual Monday, December 18th. Varsity Bars: Alexys Rueb scored an 8.58 and won bars, Jasmine Gilbert scored a 7.05 and placed 5th, Addison Cuka scored a 5.08, Dusti Laska scored a 2.65, and Amelia Rathgeber scored a 5.00.

The Lady Pirates traveled to Ethan where they took the loss 38-52. Courtney Sees had 12 points, 8 rebounds and 3 steals; McKenna Kocmich had 9 points and 5 rebounds, Alexis Vanderlei had 8 points and 5 rebounds, Lila Vanderlei had 4 assists and 3 steals.

Avon traveled to Alcester/ Hudson January 2 where they took the win 54-49. Leading the scoreboard was McKenna Kocmich with 20 points. Courtney Sees had 13 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals; Kinley Doom had 11 points, Lila Vanderlei had 9 rebounds and 4 steals for the night.

The Avon Pirate boys’ basketball team will kick off their 2023-2024 season in an away game against the Corsica-Stickney Jaguars on Tuesday, December 12th at 8:00 p.m. The boys’ head coach this year is Bailey Lagge. This is his fifth year as head coach of the Avon boys’ basketball team.

Next competition will be the triangular with Crofton- Bloomfield and Pierce at Tyndall January 11 and then travel to Harrisburg for their tournament January 12 which starts at 2 p.m.

All six BHSA girls would come home with medals at the 40th annual Dan Pansch Invitational Girls Wrestling Tournament at Brandon Valley January 6. The team finished in fourth place with 61 points in the 11-team field.

Peyton Hellmann - 135 and Hope Kemnitz - 190JV won their divisions at the Winnebago Lady Indian Wrestling Tournament at Winnebago, Nebr. December 29. Leah Whittington - 135JV finished second and Bailey Kemnitz - 140JV placed fourth.
