CELEBRATING ROGATION SUNDAY

On May 5, East Lake Andes Lutheran Church celebrated its 34th consecutive Rogation Sunday. In case you don’t know what that is, Rogation Sunday is a day when the church comes together to pray for the health and welfare of our agriculturally based community.

FROM THE Past 10 YEARS AGO 2015 The Lake Andes Farmer’s Co-op provided the grain report of the week. Corn was $3.20; beans $9.04; and winter wheat $4.80. At the Varsity Boys golf meet in Burke, JJ Cooney golfed 81 and placed second.

LIBRARY NEWS

The library received a $500 grant from GroMore-Too, Grant to be used for work to build a children’s garden at the library. Plans are to use raised beds for growing vegetables the children can prepare to eat fresh or learn the skills of preserving fruits and vegetables for consuming later.

WCS STUDENTS CELEBRATE HOPE WEEK

Last week, Wagner Middle School celebrated Hope Week with dress-up days. Both the High School and Middle School Hope Squads meet weekly to promote connections and suicide prevention support.

CLASS OF 2025: BEST AND BRIGHTEST

The academic achievements of the best and brightest students of the Class of 2025 were recognized recently at the 35th Annual Academic Excellence Recognition luncheon.

WAGNER COMMUNITY CLEANUP HELD

Every year the community of Wagner come together and dedicate one day as the Wagner Community Cleanup Day. This year it was held, Friday May 2nd at 8:30 a.m.

Congratulations to all of our winners. We are very proud of all of the K-3rd graders that participated. They did a wonderful job and were so creative. American Legion Auxiliary members have hung up posters at many business locations throughout Wagner.

District Essay Winners

At the Spring meeting of the District 8 South Dakota American Legion Auxiliary, it was announced that Wagner had three district essay winners. Portlyn Jones won the seventh/eighth grade division; and Jaycee Martin and Hannah Holzbauer both won in the ninth/tenth grade division.

CHURCH HONORS CLASS OF 2025 SENIORS

Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church Dante honored the Class of 2025 seniors at Mass on Sunday, May 4th, followed by a parish brunch.
