From the Files of the Wagner Post 10 YEARS AGO 2015 Kaleb Hartley was named the South Dakota Youth of the Year – the highest honor presented by the Boys and Girls Club. A card shower was requested for Vilmer Pietz in honor of his 91st birthday.

Three years ago, Brandon Williams decided that he wanted to try to hunt for bobcats. What started out as trying to trap bobcats ended up leading Williams to become successful in hunting mountain lions.

Volunteering is a big part of life for most of us living in rural areas. A recent community survey by Dakota Resources and eight rural communities found that about 80% of people believe they need to get involved to help their community succeed.

I’ve now been Governor of South Dakota for about 2 weeks. We finally have bills reaching my desk. I just signed my first bill as Governor, Senate Bill 7, which bans Sanctuary Cities in South Dakota. This bill is a strong piece of legislation.

After 74 years of service to the Wagner Community Memorial Hospital – Avera, the hospital auxiliary will be dissolving as of February 26th at their final meeting.
